Sunrise on the Guiau

Every morning, early risers will be able to enjoy the magnificent colors accompanying the sunrise with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains:

  • le Ladder Pass (1 meters) which connects the Clarée valley at Narrow Valley. In the past, following the Treaty of Paris of 1814, the Col de l'Échelle marked the border between France and the Kingdom of Sardinia (later the Kingdom of Italy). It was in 1947, following the annexation of the Étroite valley by France, that the border was moved to the place where it is today: to the hamlet of Mélezet on the other side of the pass.
  • le Screenwriting (also called Guiau on IGN maps, 2 meters)
  • la Pointe de Pécé (2 meters) which overlooks the hamlet of Plampinet.

Let your gaze focus south. You will then enjoy the view of the summit of Carail Cross (2 meters) as well as on the valleys of Oule and Cristol, where the lakes of the same names are located. Very beautiful routes allow you to get there from the hotel (1600 m):

  • 2h00 for Lake Cristol
  • 3h00 for the large lake of Oule

A circuit is also possible to make the 2 valleys via the Porte de Cristol; allow between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. to do the tour.

Sunset on the Vallon de Buffère

Facing west, the gaze focuses on the Haute Vallée de la Clarée, the jewel of our valley.
In the foreground, we find the valleys of Buffère, then from Chardonnet, and further the Cerces massif. A huge playground for hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing…
