The most beautiful hike in the Clarée valley?

Difficult to say if it is the most beautiful hike, but it’s a fact: everything is so beautiful here! Arrived at the top, 2354 meters for Lac Laramon and 2450 meters for Lac du Serpent, you will enjoy an incredible panorama of the Cerces and Ecrins massifs. Many traditional alpine chalets can be admired along the hiking trail. Did you know that the Clarée valley is also classified?

In the middle of summer, it is possible that the path is very busy… If you want to be more peaceful, opt for another of the many hikes and walks available around Névache. We have prepared everything for you our favorite selection: to discover here.

CAUTION: To better manage the influx of visitors, access to the upper Clarée valley is restricted in certain time slots from mid-July to mid-August. However, a shuttle allows you to travel at any time between Névache and Laval. Information here.

How to access Lake Laramon and Lake Serpent?

From Briançon, go to the Clarée Valley. Arrive at our Chalet Hotel, head towards Ville-haute. Once there, continue on the road towards the Haute Vallée de la Clarée. Then, you can't go wrong: you will have arrived at the first bridge which crosses the Clarée. This bridge (called de la Fruitière) is located at Cottages Foncouverte. You can park in the car park located after the bridge opposite the campsite.

Let's go for the hike:

from the car park retrace your steps, cross the bridge and take the forest road on the left direction “Refuge de Ricou”
you cross the forest until you reach the Ricou chalets (at 2 meters)
cross the chalets and continue due east on the GR up to the bifurcation of hill 2291.
head north-east following the directions towards Lake Laramon, lake that you will reach quickly (2 meters)
have a little cookie, drink some water and enjoy life ;-)
go around the lake from the north and follow the path jto Serpent Lake (2 meters).
enjoy the view!
