The Lake and the Col des Béraudes
One of the most beautiful hikes in the Clarée Valley?
This magnificent hike which will take you to Lac des Béraudes, has an estimated difficulty level of 2 to 3 on a scale of 5. The altitude difference is 500 meters for the lake or 770 meters for the Col. Allow 1h30 to 2h of walking to go up to the lake, then add 1h to go up to the Col.
CAUTION: To better manage the influx of visitors, access to the upper Clarée valley is restricted in certain time slots from mid-July to mid-August. However, a shuttle allows you to travel at any time between Névache and Laval. Information here.

How to access the lake and Col des Béraudes?
From Briançon, go to the Clarée Valley. Arrive at our Chalet Hotel, head towards the Laval car park.
And off we go for the hike:
- Take the start of the GR 57 trail, but very quickly, take the path on the left towards Lac des Béraudes.
- cross the Moutet Bridge.
- Then follow the path (very steep) which winds up to the lake.
- Arriving at the top, enjoy the magic of the place: a lake with turquoise waters in the middle of a large cirque of sharp peaks and steep slopes.
- If you still have a little energy left, continue for 1 more hour along the path that goes to the left of the lake and climbs the mountainside to the Col des Béraudes.
- The last turns are also very steep, but from the pass the view of the Massif des Ecrins is truly extraordinary!
